Findings of the DAYAN Project Were Shared at the Bioethics Symposium Held in Izmir

The findings of the research carried out within the scope of the project were presented as an oral paper at the scientific meeting titled 11th Bioethics Symposium: Youth and Bioethics in Times of Crisis, held in Izmir in 2025.

In the presentation delivered by A. Daldaban Berberoğlu and colleagues, the study titled “Moral Injury and Moral Resilience among Healthcare Workers After the 2023 Earthquakes in Turkey: Systemic Challenges and Strengthening” was discussed. Within the paper, the ethical challenges faced by healthcare workers after the February 6, 2023 earthquakes, their experiences of moral injury, and the dynamics of moral resilience that developed during this process were examined.

Within the mixed-method research design, preliminary findings obtained from large-scale survey data and in-depth qualitative interviews were shared, and themes such as systemic inadequacies emerging under disaster conditions, institutional distrust, and mechanisms of team solidarity were identified as prominent themes.

This presentation contributed to opening the project findings to discussion on a national academic platform and offered an important perspective for studies in disaster medicine, health policy, and medical ethics.
