Preliminary Findings of the DAYAN Project Were Presented at the 11th National Bioethics Congress
The findings of the research conducted within the scope of the project were presented as an oral paper at the 11th National Bioethics Congress held in Sakarya in 2025.
In the paper titled “Moral Injury Experiences of Healthcare Personnel Working in the February 6, 2023 Earthquakes: The Framework and Preliminary Findings of the DAYAN Research Project,” presented by M. Volkan Kavas and colleagues, the moral injury experiences of healthcare workers who served during the disaster process were comprehensively addressed.
In the presentation, the concept of moral injury was discussed within the framework of the effects of the February 6, 2023 earthquakes on the healthcare system and the ethical challenges faced by healthcare workers. The general framework, aims, and methodological approach of the DAYAN research project were shared with participants, and preliminary findings from the quantitative phase of the study were presented.
Supported under the TÜBİTAK 3005 program, this project is one of the first comprehensive studies in Turkey to examine the moral injury experiences of healthcare workers in the context of disasters. In this respect, the presentation both contributed to academic discussions and offered an important perspective on the preparedness of healthcare systems for crises and the strengthening of moral resilience.
